Ain't No Grave -- Johnny Cash

(**)  There ain't no grave Can hold my body down

When I hear that trumpet sound I'm gonna rise right out of the ground
Ain't no grave Can hold my body down Well, look way down the river
And what do you think I see I see a band of angels
And they're coming after me

(**)

Well, look down yonder, Gabriel Put your feet on the land and sea
But Gabriel, don't you blow your trumpet Until you hear from me

(**)

Well meet me, Jesus, meet me Meet me in the middle of the air
And if these wings don't fail me I will meet you anywhere

(**)

Well meet me, Mother and Father Meet me down the river road
And Mama, you know that I'll be there When I check in my load

(**)

Cash had just buried his wife, June Carter Cash, and was in poor health when he recorded American VI: Ain't No Grave.  Cash's strong Christian faith meant he had no fear, as he sung, "Ain't no grave gonna hold my body down." Rubin explained in a statement: "Johnny said recording was his main reason for being alive. I think it was the only thing that kept him going. He didn't have any fear and he was already dealing with pain. He had acceptance. When he knew he was going to die, he was calm and matter-of-fact about it. That was it."
